Topic: French-Australian Information Technology Cooperation

Special Guest: Mr Alain Moulet, Science and Technology Attaché, French Embassy

Alain Moulet is an engineer graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace (SUPAERO). He began his professional career in the Ballistics and Aerodynamics Laboratory (LRBA) of the French Defence Procurement Agency where he established and directed the Department of Space Systems, leading research and consultancies in developing systems for remote sensing by satellite. In 1995, he was appointed Deputy Regional Delegate of the Minister for Research and Technology in the Midi-Pyrénées region, based in Toulouse. Here he was concerned with the development of applied and technological research, research-enterprise relations and support for innovation in small and medium enterprises. He was appointed Science and Technology Attaché to the French Embassy in Canberra in February 2000, with a mandate to develop collaborative research programs, enhance technological relations between French and Australian researchers and enterprises, and promote exchanges of students and researchers.

Mr Alain Moulet will also give a presentation the day before on French-Australian Science And Technology Cooperation (Wednesday 11 July 2001, 3.00 - 5.00 pm) at the Australian National University, Research School of Biological Sciences Robertson Lecture Theatre, Biology Place, off Sullivans Creek Road. Staff and postgraduate students from all Canberra tertiary institutions are welcome to attend. IRCs are free (but you have to buy your own drinks and one for the special guest) and open to anyone interested: just turn up.
