Chairperson to make opening statement.

9:30am Mr Roger Clarke, Reader in Information Systems, Department of Commerce, Australian National University - to provide an introduction to the terminology, an explanation of the technology and provide an overview of the policy issues.

10:15am Attorney-General's Department/Department of Communications and the Arts - description of the Government's Task Force Report on Regulation of Computer Bulletin Board Systems and subsequent developments.

10:45am Mr Alan B. Wakley, Pacific Area Director of Public Affairs, Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints (Australian representative of the Religious Alliance Against Pornography) - to provide the perspective of a community group and to discuss international developments.

11:30am Mr Tom Worthington, Director of the Community Affairs Board, Australian Computer Society - discussion of the response of the Joint Task Force on Freedom in Cyberspace (a joint task force of the Australian Computer Society and Electronic Frontiers Australia) to the proposals of the Government's task force.

12:15pm AARnet - Mr Peter Saalmans, General Manager and Mr Geoff Huston, Network Manager (also Secretary of the Internet Society) - to provide comment on the options for regulation from its perspective.

1:00pm Lunch

2:00pm Internet Industry Association of Australia - Mr. Geoff Slater, co-founder. - to provide comment on the options for regulation from its perspective.

2:45pm Panel discussion.

4:00pm Conclusion. Chairperson to summarise proceedings.
